David Jacklin is a former Royal Air Force officer and NATO systems engineer, who has a special interest in the history of aviation and the RAF. He is a trustee of the RAF Bircham Newton Memorial Project, established to conserve the history of RAF Bircham Newton and its satellite airfields. Significant project achievements include the establishment of a heritage room, within the site of the former RAF station, and the provision and dedication of two permanent memorials to those who served at Bircham Newton and the main satellite airfield at Docking. David, who grew up in Docking, and spent some of his childhood living on the former satellite airfield near the village, has written extensively about these former airfields and given many illustrated talks on behalf of the project.
His first book "Up in all Weather - the story of RAF Docking" was published in 2004. He has since written several other books, including "Whin Close Warriors", about the former WWI aerodrome at Sedgeford. These books are very reasonably priced and available for purchase on this website. David's contact details are provided on the Contact Us page of the site.
